Great review. Unbelievable how you can speak so fast, yet well audible, without making no mistakes and giving loads of important and very useful info. Wonderful. I have 1 question. Bluetooth data transfer is slow. I am wondering if they use Wifi on the 245 music version to transfer "running data", making it faster. Or is Wifi only used for music?
Music only through streaming services you pay premium for… PASS!!!
It's difficult for me…I am an iPhone user. My Fitbit ionic died–2nd one. I am very torn on either this, the 245, which others say is the best of the 645, then there is the more expensive 945, and the Apple 4. I am a weight lifter, swimmer, and I run, jump rope. I walk and hike. So it seems like the bulk of the 945 is an issue for swimming. Also, while I like stats, I am not training for the Olympics…
Can't get mine to load music. Just says "select the folder you want to scan for music files" forever.
Desfit, please review the Polar Ignite!
This was awesome, I'm looking to upgrade from my 230 to this watch so I would finally have spotify and get to run without my phone!
Great review and video, as recently starting YouTube myself and noticed I've got the same theme colours lol what camera do you use please? and do you colour grade ?
Hi Des
How would I setup live tracking on the laptop and my Garmin Fenix 5X Plus so my family can see me in real time
Thank you
Can you do the Polar Ignite next? It looks great but I am interested in it's smart features and accuracy
Thanks Des, a great, highly detailed review as usual. Yeah, trust Garmin to pull their cheap moves as usual. They charge an arm and a leg for all their products, and they generally all tend to be good allrounders, but yet they skimp on something like a "cheap" altimeter… And ditch power meter support for cycling??? Not good. Power meter support is crucial for somebody like me so I'll just walk on by on these when buying another sports/activity tracker ???
Only 955 intensity minutes for the week so far??? Are you taking things super easy Des? That should be your daily ?
Great review – I have been loving my 245 Music (which I got due to availability rather than music capability!) … I run mornings 6 days per week and would agree with the ~5 days of GPS usage – but I have yet to dip below ~7% battery. Thanks for all the other info – as a ‘run only’ person there is SO much capability I haven’t even touched yet!
The new Polar Ignite seems to have some promise too, especially with having some adaptive training recommendations based on. Your recovery.
What setting did you use for GPS?
Hi, which watch would you recommend for someone that mostly does weight training and a bit of running and cycling? Notifications not important.
Hey, Des!
Great review of sentral specifications within the Forerunner. Keep it up, man!
I was wondering if you could make a detailed video (maybe a video series) of how the workout creator in Garmin Connect works. As I can see, there is 6 different types of activities you can use for pre-plan your workouts, but it would be really interesting to see how you use them. Especially for different types of strength training, but also the different approach for long distants running and shorter intervals.
In advance, thanks! ????
Great video as always! I’m looking at the 245 music and the apple series 4. Which one do you think is better for gym exercises and other fitness activities? Thanks
Hi @DesFit. I am using two watches now – Pebble Time, and Amazfit Stratos, but thinking about Forerunner 245(to replace both). Could you please compare size of Stratos, and FR245(maybe photo)?
Bought this watch a few days ago, hoping that your long term review would drop soon. Upgrading from a VA3, so glad to hear it gets a good review and pass from you! Thanks, Des!
Hey hey
Why does it say DC rainmaker in the top left in your graphs?
Hi Des,
I was wondering if you could do a video for those newer into sports watches? Just general directions and suggestions from you?
I go to the gym, swim and irregularly run/hike/cycle etc so I think I need something more introductory?? Garmin watches look to be the best and have the best daily trackers and batteries. So I'm keen on one. But I'm not sure which ones I should be going towards especially considering prices ?
Great review as always! I am really looking forward to comparison between 245 and 645 as I plan to buy one for my wife. I am happy owner of Fenix 5.
have you ever played around with the 735xt? If so, thoughts? (question kinda goes for anyone who has since i'm on the fence between the 245 and 735xt; right now the 735xt is ~$265 on amazon while the 245 sitting at $350)
I am looking for a garmin forerunner watch and I can't decide between the 645m and the 245m. which one should I get?
They’re kinda sold out ?. Absolutely going to pickup the music one.
Ran the first time with it today. Big jump from the 235. Used them with the Airpods and not a single dropout. Built quality is excellent.
Great review! I’m looking for a watch that will monitor my heart rate while doing CrossFit, tell me my steps while I go on hikes/walks and tracks my sleep. I do love the music aspect of this phone. Is there another watch that you would recommend that will fulfill my wants? So many smart watches out there! Thank you!
Thanks for the elaborate FR245 review Des. Was waiting for that. Being an occasional triathlete I was wondering how this watch would fit me. My doubts are still there missing alt meter, open water swim and not having the possibility to sync with a Tri HR strap. Do you have any experience device apps like Triathlon Multi-Sport App? Could you ad the 45 in your 245 645 compare. Thanks
Another banger from the OG Desfit ??????
