Unboxing, setup and full tour of the Matrix Powerwatch X, a smartwatch and fitness tracker powered by your body heat.

Forget about chargers and cables, the Powerwatch X uses good old fashioned thermal power instead. This wearable is impressively rugged too, one of the most water resistant smartwatches of 2018, complete with a chunky and tough 50mm chassis.

That basic monochrome screen helps to reduce power consumption and the Powerwatch X is also lacking when it comes to features. As far as fitness tracking goes, it’s steps, distance and calorie count only – there’s no GPS, HR or NFC support. A running mode and stopwatch is about as complicated as things get.

Here we show you what’s in the box and run through setup with the Matrix app. We also tour the Powerwatch hardware and software so you know what to expect.

Is the Powerwatch X one of the best fitness smartwatches of 2018? Sadly the lack of functionality lets it down, although the smart charging tech and rugged design makes it ideal for outdoor use. Let us know your thoughts below!
