DESCRIPTION:

This DT58 is a very unusual fitness band. Sure, it does the usual stuff like step count, calories burned and distance traveled, along with multiple sport tracking, but it adds a few more things not often seen on inexpensive bands. Theres a link through tethering via your phone to the current weather in your city, the UV index, and even the air pressure and altitude, None of that is for your exact location, just the average for your city.

The real fun comes when you get into biometrics. Theres ECG plates on this one (and, unlike on the DT28, these actually work) that perform a 60 second ECG test (no charts produced) to assess hour Heart Rate Variability (HRV). Theyve gotten real fancy and provided the actual raw data to you on one screen, and a summary of your HRV values on another screen. A summary of the meaning of each of the entries is covered in the review and included below.

Finally, theres a breathing exercise section to help you relax. For the price this is a must have device to experiment with and delve into advanced heart data. The tethering to the phone app leaves a lot to be desired, and several values dont transfer yet, but the app is under development, so future editions may be able to capture transferred data from the DT58. Here are a couple of links describing HRV followed by the category of readings collected by this device:

Wikipedia:

HRV Basics:

HRV Data Collected and Reported but DT58 fitness band:

PNN20: The proportion of NN20 divided by the total number of NN (R-R) intervals

PNN50: The proportion of NN50 divided by the total number of NN (R-R) intervals

HFnorm: High Frequency power (HF): frequency activity in the 0.15 – 0.40Hz range

LFnorm: Low Frequency power (LF): frequency activity in the 0.04 – 0.15Hz range

LF/HF:A ratio of Low Frequency to High Frequency

Important Notices for Heart Monitoring Devices –

BIOMETRIC MEASUREMENT WARNING: This device claims to produce and evaluate heart wave ECG data. The accuracy of the readings HAVE NOT BEEN VERIFIED and MAY NOT BE ACCURATE. As such, you are advised to proceed with caution and to *NOT* rely upon readings from this or any similar devices for making decisions regarding your medical condition or health. Fitness/Health watches/bands offering biometric measurements such as heart rate, Blood Pressure, blood oxygen, fatigue, breath rate, etc., should be considered supplemental to seeking true and accurate readings taken under optimal conditions by trained professionals using accurate, calibrated equipment. If you feel concerned about your health, do not self-diagnose, especially from using inexpensive, uncalibrated non-medical wearable devices such as this one. Seek proper medical advice. Enjoy your new toy, but remember, it is a toy.
