Review of Mobvoi’s TicWatch S2, an Android Wear OS smartwatch that’s fully-featured – we’re talking built-in GPS, 24 hour heart rate monitoring, fitness tracking and WiFi support – for those on a budget under 200. In fact, the UK price of the TicWatch S2 is just 165, similar to the E2 watch which launched simultaneously in Jan 2019.

Is this Mobvoi wearable one of the best smartwatches around? Well, there’s no NFC support, while we prefer Fitbit’s mobile app – so the Versa wins on those counts. However, you get great value for money here, even if the Ticwatch S2 is no looker. The specs are solid, including a Snapdragon Wear 2100 chipset, 1.4-inch OLED screen, and decent-ish battery life for a smartwatch.

I’ve fully unboxed the S2 and E2 watches and compared them against one another, so check that out for a full tour of Wear OS as well. Here I review the TicWatch S2 based on two weeks of use, including how good the fitness features are, and whether performance is as good as you’d hope.
