So why am i doing this quick overview of the zep app and my opinions on it? Well, as you guys probably already know, i’ve done tons of episodes on amazebit and zep devices recently and in the past, as well. I’Ve had things like the bip, the verge. The stratos the pace, the band 5, the zeb z, the zep e gtr gts, all of these devices and more probably that are missing off. That list quite clearly use the same. Zip app and i don’t want to keep repeating myself review after review after review. It’S. Okay, if you’re just looking for a single review on, say the amazing bitbu, which is the one i’m wearing right now. But if you watch my stuff regularly, you are a subscriber and just want to find out about the smart watch that i’m wearing. Then you don’t want to keep hearing about the app over and over again so i’m going to do this one overview at the start of 2021 explaining what it can do and my opinions on that app. So then, in all my future smartwatch reviews, i can focus on the smartwatch itself and taking a look at that rather than the app experience, so i hope that’s okay for my existing subscribers. This is for you guys and if you’ve come here from a review where i’ve directed you across, i will leave a link in the description below to all of the other zep and amazement wearables that use the zep app.

So you can take a look at those yourself but welcome let’s begin let’s start right at the very beginning with pairing your watch to the app. This is such a straightforward process and nearly every single current amazement, zep device uses the same process. You open the package. You turn the watch on. It has a qr code. All you got to do then, is in the app itself. Click the profile icon, the bottom right press, the plus button. You can then scan that qr code and it will pair up automatically with the app it takes. A couple of minutes and there’ll be a couple of requests on your phone to pair with bluetooth, but as soon as that’s done. You are literally up and running in seconds. You can see that i’ve actually got more than one watch paired, which is an awesome feature and something that i find a lot of people ask about the zep app is: can you pair more than one watch and the answer is yes, the caveat is you can’t? Have more than one of these activated at any one time, so that means you can’t, receive notifications and do things like health tracking on more than one at a time. So what you have to do there is let’s say i now wanted to move from my bipu to the zep z, for example. I would have to choose the z in the app and activate it. It takes a short while, but it activates the zip z deactivates.

The bip: u and makes the zep z the main device that i’ll be tracking from from that point onwards, this sort of functionality is imperative because zepp and amazement wearables tend to be extremely affordable. So you might end up having more than one so that you can accessorize. I mean there’s, so many different styles of amazement and set wearables out there for you to take a pic of so you might want something that’s geared more towards fitness, and then you might want something that you can wear out to dinner. It’S just entirely up to you how you do it and the fact that you can pair multiple watches in the app is a great little touch, and it does mean that you have got that versatility of what you’re wearing at any one time on the profile page. It also allows you to add target goals for steps waiting, calories and sleep, which is quite a unique one and i’ll cover more about the sleep stuff in a little bit, but further down, you can see friends, although, for whatever reason, this feature seems to be a Bit hit and miss, and at the moment i can’t seem to add friends – and i know this problem is something that a lot of people have and i’ll talk more about that in a little bit. So if you are having a little issue, adding friends you’re, not alone, there are other people out there with the same problem.

Interestingly, this is perhaps one of the only issues from the entire service that i’ve found and if you are having issues yourself with adding friends, let me know in the comments or if you found a solution. Also, let me know in the comments back to the menu you’ve also got your personal bests for running cycling and climbing in the record section for the most people. Climbing running and cycling. Are the top sports so that’s quite awesome that they’ve put personal bests in there, but it would be nice in future to see things like hiking added into that list as well, because i do things like hiking a lot more than i run or cycle or climb For that matter, i’ve got dogs. I walk them in the mountains nearly every day, so be cool to see my personal best for things like my distance or the quickest mile walking as well so that’s a bit of a feature request but i’ll add some more feature. Requests later on, underneath here, you have the add account section, which is now the integral point you need to access. If you want to pair up the zep or amazebit wearables with third party services and depending on which country you’re in which region you’re in and which watch you’re using at the time, depends on what you actually see in this drop down menu, the core ones. I have access to at the moment using the bit view are wechat the health app which will sync to either google fit or apple health, strava and relive.

If the watch that you’re using also works with amazon, then you can also use this section to sign into your amazon account too, and once it’s linked. It will work straight away. Syncing with third party health services, zepp will write steps, bmi heart rate, sleep data and weight into both apple and google health apps. So the integration with zep and third party services is actually pretty good and they do seem to be adding more as time goes on. I mean the amazon echo voice service is a relatively new thing, so i would love and cannot wait to see what is next for zep and what they integrate with in future. If you’ve got any requests yourself or if there’s, something that you’d like to see zep integrate with i’d love to know what that is in the comments below and you never know, they might take notes of that and they might build it into future z. Perhaps, who knows, but let me know in the comments i’ve got a few ideas of what i’d like zep to integrate with as well, but i’ll tell you what those are at the end. Also on the profile page, is the smart analysis option now. This is something that you’re going to want to turn on and i’ll get into that in just a second, because once you’ve set everything up paired all up and started tracking some data, the home page, is where you’re going to spend most of your time after that, It delivers a dashboard of the information that’s tracked through whatever devices you’re currently using and by tapping on any of the information you can get access to further more detailed data.

Now what’s awesome is by turning on that smart analysis i recommended a minute ago. It gives you advice in certain circumstances, based on the results that you’re getting, for example, in the sleep data. It gives me a few pointers based on the records for how i can sleep better at night. I love this feature, although it does make me feel extremely guilty when i constantly ignore the advice i’m being given, and then continue to wonder why i’m always tired back on the dashboard, you might be wondering what on earth your pi score is. This is huawei’s secret weapon in helping you keep fit and prolonging your existence it’s a score generated from a combination of all of your health data developed over a 35 year study using over two hundred thousand people going into this section gives you information about your pi Score and what exercises you can do to cross the next pi goal. There’S, a tiny, little hidden feature here that some people don’t realize you can do by swiping up from the bottom, you get access to a little menu with quick actions that you can customize to suit what you use the app for the most, including shortcuts to change The settings in the watches that you’re wearing themselves now moving into the actual watch settings from here it’ll depend slightly on which watch you have because it’ll depend on the capabilities of that watch and i’ll cover some of the specific differences between the watches and what it Can do with app in those reviews themselves, so if there’s anything that differs from this episode, i will explain that in those reviews themselves, as a general overview, you can change things such as watch faces from the store, the notifications and settings and order the apps appear On the watch, along with the frequency of some of the health tracking data, this is quite useful as it gives you plenty of customization, so you can either focus on more regular, accurate tracking data points such as recording your heart rate constantly or you can turn off A lot of the health data tracking to preserve battery life, if you’re, using the amaze bit or zep watches for notifications.

Primarily, we all know – and i always say that an app or software is 60 of the experience. The other 40 is the hardware you can’t have decent hardware and terrible software. It just does not work. The whole experience will be miserable i’d, rather have terrible hardware and better software. I think yeah i’ll go with that. So is the zepp app or does the zip out make it worth buying the amazon or zep lineup 100? Yes, i think it’s extremely intuitive and in my eyes, it’s not intimidating. I think some health apps can be quite intimidating with bars and graphs, and all this stuff everywhere zepp does a very good job in putting little snippets of information, little snippets of advice to make this data digestible to the every man or every woman genuinely. I think the zep app is a fantastic one: stop shop for all of your health. So if the software is gon na tip you over the scale to buy an amazing or zip device, then i would have no concerns with it, because it is a fantastic piece of software and they’ve done a great job. There are things that they can improve and there are things that i would like to see, though in the future, but with software it’s easily to be updated. So, hopefully they’re going to update some of these things. Firstly, i’d, like the option to be able to do things like export my data as a dot csv file.

That way i can import that data into spreadsheets and make my own correlating graphs with anything i choose, such as cups of tea and my heart rate does. Having two sugars in my tea accelerate my heart rate. Well, the zep app can’t tell me that, because there’s no way of tracking my cups of tea in there, but if i wrote it down on a piece of paper and popped it into a spreadsheet and then was able to overlay my heart rate data through a Csv file that will be extremely handy for me and i think that’s something i’d like to see from zepp in giving access to the data a little bit more for everyone, maybe integration with oculus quest, for example. So if you’re in a fitness app, you can see your live data such as your heart rate, flashing up on the screen at the same time, or maybe integration with something like streamlabs. So if you’re on twitch on warzone and you’re fighting off against a bunch of sweaty teens who are high on red bull, maybe you want to flash up your heart rate or something like that could be a bit of fun. I don’t know but there’s tons and tons of ways i think zep could integrate with other services, and i feel that they’ve got well. They are an ideal place to be able to position themselves as this kind of median point for bridging the gap between loads of different services.

So i would love to see a little bit more from that front, but the last thing is: i want to see a more stable and comprehensive friending service. As i’ve said at the moment i can’t seem to get it work. I have made it work in the past, but it’s not the most comprehensive service. Now we all know striving towards your activity goals or striving towards losing weight or being more healthy can be quite lonely and quite challenging at the best of times. I think they need a more social service, a way to compete with friends and egg each other on to get a little bit more weight off your shoulders burn. A few more calories in a week. Do the most number of steps i don’t know. I would just love to see a little bit more of a social element, which is what things like nike does really well with their running apps. They have a much bigger social element and i think that’s something that’s a bit lacking in the amazement and zepp lineup. But hopefully giving this feedback we’ll see more of that in the future. So that concludes my overview on the zep app and i hope you found something useful or something you didn’t know in today’s episode. If you want to see an episode on any of the specific watches or amazement wearables, i will continue to update and link below in the description all of the reviews that i’ve done on amazefit and zeb devices that use the zepp app.

So click on that take a look at those if you want to, but other than that guys. Thank you very much for joining again. Just to remind you, i would love to hear from you what request or what integration you want to see or what features you want to see from the zep in the future, because you never know they could be watching and they might build some of those in So let me know in the comments below and let me know what you think of my suggestions as well, but other than that guys.YkzvEwOvI9g
