You welcome back to another episode of steve’s reviews. The amazement bit for a long time was one of my favorite smart watches available the amount of features they packed into. Such a cheap price point was incredible, but that was three years ago and that’s a long time in technology terms, so it’s about time that they finally introduced a new heir to the throne and today i’m going to explore whether or not the bip. U is a decent successor so before we begin let’s take a look at the specs the bit: u is just 40 by 35 millimeters in size and weighs only 31 grams with the strap making it super lightweight, but that doesn’t stop it from housing. Some significant upgrades from its predecessor, the 1.3 inch full color lcd display, is lovely and sharp for its size and it sits below a curved glass exterior inside its plastic case: it’s huwami’s biotracker, 2 optical heart, sensors, an accelerometer, a gyroscope alongside a 230 mah battery. It comes in black, green and pink, and it also has quick release. Strap system that accepts regular watch straps that are 20 millimeters in width i’m, really excited to show this to you and discuss whether it can knock the crown off the head of the original bip. As the best budget fitness tracker available now, a few of you are probably pointing at the screen and saying something like oh, but stewart isn’t there already a successor to the amaze bit bip and you wouldn’t be wrong because there is a successor to the maze with Bip – and that is the bip s, but i haven’t actually covered that, although i have it in the studio at the moment, i haven’t covered it because there weren’t a lot of changes with it.
It was waterproof the original one, wasn’t and that’s really about it. Other than a few other little things so i chose not to cover it because i didn’t think the changes were that big enough to shout about, but the bip. U has changed that because they’ve added in a bunch of features into this that change the bip lineup completely and it stays at the same price point of around 60 pounds. The screen is perhaps the biggest change and, in my eyes the hottest topic, because it’s not ammo led now what’s significant about that is that all of the other amazement devices and zip devices that i can think of bar, maybe one or two have ammo led displays. So it means that the bip is a bit of an odd one out, but then on the flip side, it did have to keep its price down, and this is one of the ways it’s done it now. Despite this, i think the screen is very very good and it is a million times better than the original bip it’s sharper it’s, clearer, it’s crisper. Overall, it just looks so much better. You can absolutely tell that it isn’t an amoled display, especially in darker environments, but i still think they’ve done a fantastic job in that display. It still looks extremely crisp. The reason it looks so crisp is because they’ve changed the technology slightly in the display from the original bib. Now this means there is something amiss here in the original bit.
They used a screen that was very, very similar to a gameboy color, which meant that you could see it when there was no backlight on. So, if you’re out on a walk – and it was sunny – you didn’t – need the backlight on and you’d still be able to see what time it was and notifications and things like that with the bip. U it uses a tft lcd display, which means that when the backlight is off, you cannot see any information on that screen, which is a bit upsetting, and i quite like that from the original bit. That was something i really liked, but it’s a bit of a trade off really because you’ve got a much better display using a tft lcd display like in cheaper phones that you might find on the market right now, whereas on the bip you’ve got always on. But it isn’t anywhere near as nice, a display so you’ve kind of got this trade off. It is just a bit of a shame and actually i’ve seen a couple of news articles saying that you can set the bipu to have an always on display well they’re wrong. They are wrong, so i’m calling them out and if you’re expected by the bipu and haven’t always on display, you are not going to get it because it is a tft lcd display and they do not have an always on function like the ammo led and the Standard lcd used in the bip, so please bear that in mind and if i am wrong, if i’m wrong – and you can have it always on which i’m almost 100 certain you can’t, please let me know in the comments below i’m.
Definitely not wrong, though there is one other downside of using that tft lcd display, and that is that those types of display are much more power hungry, and that means you’re not going to get the same level of battery life expectancy than you would have on the Bip with the original bit, it lasted 30 days, and i remember being in utter awe of that. I mean that’s an insane amount of time for a smart watch three years ago. Well, now amazement have pretty much brought that long life to all of their smart watches, but the bipu does not hold up against that because it uses a much more power intensive display with the bipu you’re only going to get about nine days of usage standard. So that’s, with all kind of standard stuff turned on that’s, not necessarily anything to scoffer. I guess, because nine days is still extremely respectable, but it’s, definitely not what we’re used to from the amaze bit range. In fact, i think that might be the shortest battery life. In the amaze pit and zep lineup hmm, but then is one of the only ones to use that tft lcd display and a game they’ve got to cut down on costs. So this is all kind of becoming a theme here for that budget. Wearable lineup, that is the bip range one last thing, that’s missing from the bit view that was in the bip is built in gps. Now this is a bit of a shame if you want to go for a run and leave your phones at home and track your route still, then the bip, you will not do it.
You have to take your phone with you for it to use the assisted gps. The bip, however, did have gps built in so it did mean you could go for a run and it will track your route, whether you had your phone with you or not. Bit of a shame that they’ve not put it in the bpu but hold on one second, because they have put it in the bip you just not the standard version, there’s, actually, two versions of the bit view standard and the pro version, and the pro version has The gps built into it. It also has a couple of other things as well, namely the addition of amazon with the bitpu pro it has a microphone and can integrate with the amazon echo voice surface. So it does give you a smart assistant on the wrist. This version i’m wearing right now is the standard bip? U not the pro, so i haven’t yet been able to test that out. But if it works, like the other amazement and zep devices, it’s very straightforward, you sign into the account on your phone and then it you’re up and running. You can speak to it as you would with any of your echo devices in the house, so that’s pretty cool if you do want to go for runs without your phone. If you do want the ability to control your smart devices in the house and do other amazon echo things, then the bitbu pro is definitely a device to look at over the standard bipu.
But actually then the bitvue pro becomes a lot closer to the amazebit bip. In its feature set the fact it has that gps, both models have much better specs to be able to track your health and fitness a lot better than the original bip. First and foremost, both of the watches are 50 meters, submergible, so any form of swimming. You can track the original bit didn’t have that it wasn’t waterproof at all, so you couldn’t track any of your swimming exercises, but this is where it becomes really interesting and the key selling point in my eyes for the amazing bip over any of the other amazing Devices – and that is the sports tracking – you could now select more sports in the workout section, and then it goes further into asking what type of sport and you can even select things like hunting, which is the closest i’ve ever gotten to be able to track. My own sport of clay, pigeon, shooting and now that i can select that as a form of exercise, i may even be able to convince my wife that going shooting is healthy for me, but seriously it can track over 60 different sports that’s just insane. I suspect at this early stage this is more about tagging those activities so that in the future going forward, amazement can start to tweak the algorithms and get data much more accurate for individual activities like hunting, for example. Now, unfortunately, at the moment i haven’t had a chance to test out how well it can track my clay, pigeon shooting, because the range has been closed due to covered measures and all the blah blah blah nonsense like that.
But i have been for a run just to test how well it tracks your data during activities i’m, going for a run testing out this and seeing how well it does tracking my run. If any of you have any recommendations for a really decent and accurate heart rate, monitor that isn’t some form of smart watch, let me know in the comments below because i’m, trying to find the most accurate heart rate sensor that i can access as a consumer to Give me a base rate to understand how accurate fitness trackers that i’m trying are when it comes to heart rate. So please do, let me know if you have any recommendations at the moment. The wahoo ticker so i’ll be checking that out really soon from what i can tell the data is pretty accurate and it uses hawami’s algorithms that they’ve been developing over the years in all of their lineup. So from what i can see, it’s pretty good what’s. Really nice here, though, is when you are tracking things like your activities. It has an element of multitasking, so you’re able to control things like your music. If you do have music with you playing on your phone, this is something that wasn’t in the original bip and, in fact, if you went home whilst tracking an activity, it would cancel that activity and you wouldn’t be able to go back into it. So it’s a nice touch, they’ve added a form of multitasking here now.
Obviously, all health data collected by any wearable is only ever a guideline and i’d hope. I wouldn’t have to keep saying this every single episode, but without fail some covid 5g mind control, illuminati conspiracy, theorist gets in touch and comments. Oh well, these devices aren’t accurate, of course, they’re, not accurate it’s, just something on your wrist they’re, never going to be as accurate as the medical devices that you can get down at your general practitioner, doctor’s office. So if you are concerned about your health head down there and ask a doctor, these are only ever meant to be a guideline and in fact most manufacturers will clearly highlight this nearly at the start of their terms of service, just like guess who amaze fit in My eyes, if you have the expectation that this is going to be as accurate as the machines that cost thousands and thousands of pounds down at your doctors, then you probably do need to go to the doctors. So stop watching pick up the phone and go to your gp either that or reset your expectations, which will be simpler anyway, rant over pressing. The crowd on the side allows you to run through the apps and gives you pretty much the standard set available on most other amazon devices, including the spo2 reading app, which is another good addition to the lineup for health, tracking and fantastic. That they’ve put it in a device at this price point. Aside from this very simple interface notifications from your phone, both ios and android will pop up on the screen with a vibration, which might i add, is rather strong for its size, but it can be adjusted in the settings.
The interface is a lot smoother than the original bip and a lot more vibrant. If you’ve used any of the amazebit devices from the past year, it will be very very familiar to you as it runs a similar, build and design there’s, nothing mega special about it. As it’s rather simplified, but that is what i like about it and that’s. What makes it very simple to use the partner app is pretty good overall giving a great connected experience now. This is the same app that all the maze fit and zep watchers use. So i’ve done a complete overview of this experience in my zep app review, video, which i’ll leave a link in the description for so if you do want to find out more about how the app operates. Go check that video out coming to the . I think the bit view does have some trade offs. You aren’t going to get all of the things that the original bip has, but you are going to get a much better experience overall, it’s, better screen, there’s a snappier interface, there’s, more health tracking features. It could do things like your spo2 levels, it’s more accurate in that respect as well, and also the fact you can do 60 different activities and track them individually. It just makes this one of the best budget, fitness tracker, wearables that you can buy at this moment with some fantastic smartwatch functionality baked into there as well. So if you have a bip, this is a significant upgrade.
I promise you, you are gon na love it and if you don’t have a bip already and you’re. Looking for the budget fitness tracker of the year, the bipu is gon na, be the budget fitness tracker of 2021. I mean i’m prepared to be surprised, but at the moment it’s absolutely taken that top spot for me, but that’s all from me guys if you have enjoyed today’s video don’t forget to hit that like and subscribe and if you do want to see more amaze fit Or zip wearable reviews hit that notification bell as well, because i’ve done loads in the past and i’ve got some more coming up real soon as well, but other than that guys.Bqygc3CQfkA
