Giveaway: a smartwatch case by Vario:

Here’s one of the contenders for “Best Chinese Android Smartwatch” of the year – Kospet Optimus Pro. Let me be very clear: this is not a certified by Google smartwatch – it doesn’t run WearOS – which in my opinion is a great strength. And because it has a SIM card slot – could be the perfect way for you to have a second smartphone.
For a device that costs nearly $160 – unboxing has to be superb, and it is! Design of the package is well made, and out of the box you receive three different straps – one that is on the watch itself, and two spares. The charging dock has microUSB port. The watch bezel material is ceramic. The rest is mostly plastic. There is an included screen protector, factory preinstalled, covering the tempered glass – it is not Gorilla, but Kospet promise it to be at least hardened.
The specs… 1.39 inch AMOLED screen, quad-core CPU, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, and a huge 800mah battery.
Few words about the screen – thanks to the AMOLED screen technology feels very bright and is one of the devices with best visibility. Due to the nature of the Amoled technology it superior to most of the competitors, very vibrant and good looking. I think the screen is one of its biggest strengths and contributes a lot to the good battery life. Speaking of which – from the promised 5-7 days I usually get around up to 3-4, but for a smartwatch this is great. Speaker is fine, microphone seems to also have good quality, overall – I am very happy with the hardware, and with the performance. Having 3GB ram, and a lot of CPU power certainly give you the best possible Android experience.
The OS is a slim-lined Android, I‘d say – no bloatware, good app drawer, and bunch of good useful features. First thing I didn’t like are the notifications – they are enabled for all apps by default, so you may have to spend some time disabling those that you don’t like. It’s not Kospet’s fault –it’s how the stock android works.
The upper button is the screen off and on switch, the bottom one is the home or back button. You do most of what you do through the screen – swipe down – and there are the quick settings – grouped into a few sections – a very powerful section of the watch – you will see quick toggles, music control and weather shortcut. Swipe up for your health data – surprisingly rich on data – distance info, steps, some historical data – it is all there. You can measure heartrate from the dedicated menu in the apps section.
The app drawer is similar to the well known in WearOS, and you can scroll up and down. The more apps you download, the longer you are going to scroll.
Like most of the Android based watches – sports are not that greatly integrated, but – let’s say – you can capture most of the common activities, even with GPS assistance, because – both GPS and GLONASS are part of the feature list.
The smartphone app to be used is called Wiiwatch – not impressive. Bad at keeping historical data.
Overall – Kospet Optimus Pro offers great hardware and good user experience at a reasonable price, with the biggest drawback – not being waterproof.
