Suddenly my regular watch felt decades old. What i didn’t know back then, was just how long it would take for hardware and software to improve until i actually felt like the promises that were made became reality and that neither google no motorola would be the ones pulling this off. Welcome to my full review of the amaze fit gtr 2. Music. When talking about smart watches. There are six main aspects that are important to me: price design, performance display notifications and battery life with a price of roughly 179 dollars in the us or 179 euros here in germany. The gdr2 is very competitively priced when compared to android, wear or samsung tizen based smart watches and, of course, much much cheaper than the apple watch, 6 or even the apple watch. Se, the gtr 2 features a classic and minimalistic design that is dominated by the big and beautiful 1.’ inch amoled display with curved 3d glass on top of it. The body of the watch is made out of stainless steel, with two very tactile buttons on the right side, with the first one, giving you quick access to all installed apps and the second one, giving you immediate access to a ton of different workouts when holding the Watch for the very first time, i was very surprised at how light it was coming in at only 31.5 gram which feeds impossibly light, especially compared to the samsung gear s3 that basically weighs double at 63 grams.
This low weight of the gdr2 also results in a very comfortable fit. In fact, it is so light that you sometimes forget that you’re, even varying it, the performance of the gdr2 with the custom amazfit os, is nothing short of smooth and fast, especially compared to some of the earlier android wear watches. It feels like a day and night difference and even compared to the awesome gear s3. It is at least just as good, if not better talking about the display. The high resolution oled panel not only delivers great vivid, colors and wide viewing angles, but also perfect blacks. The only thing that i would love to see improved is the maximum brightness, which is not the best that i’ve seen. That being said, i never really had any issues with the screen. Visibility, no matter if, in or outdoors during sunny summer days, a bit of extra brightness would be welcome, though another aspect i want to mention is the automatic brightness adjustment of the screen, which worked excellent. Last but not least, i of course also have to mention. We always on display, which is a must, have feature for me on smart watches. Of course this reduces the battery life, but for me it’s totally worth it when it comes to notifications, my requirements are simple. I just want a watch that reliably shows me my whatsapp and gmail notifications, and this is exactly what the gdr2 does, which i love, i’ve, disabled, all other notifications, because i do not want my wrist to ribate all the time.
But, of course, you can also enable notifications for other apps as well now battery life is the one single aspect that makes this smartwatch so incredible to me, while my gear s3 also has a nice oled display and fast performance, the battery life with always on display, Is rarely more than a single day requiring a charge overnight with the amazfit gtr2? This is an entirely different story, even with the always on display enabled the watch lasted six full days on one single charge, and that is with day and night usage with sleep tracking enabled. If you want to extend this even further, the gdr2 lasted me 11 days with the same usage just by disabling the always on display. To be honest, these results absolutely amazed and shocked me. The 471 milliamp hour battery in the gdr2 is only roughly 23 larger than the one found in the gear s3, and despite that, the battery life is basically 600 percent better. So now it’s time for my and ever since the first smartwatch trailers were released back in 2014. I was really intrigued by the idea of having a modern interpretation of a watch on my wrist. That is showing me my latest notifications and that’s tracking my step and sleep. The maze with gdr2 is the first watch that really convinced me. Overall, the zeb, companion app, is well designed and runs amazing on my galaxy s10 and is not only available for android, but also for ios.
In addition to that, the watch is very well built nicely designed and offers an incredible battery life that allows you to go on weekend trips without the need of even bringing its charger. Last but not least, there’s also, a nice variety of pre installed watch faces to choose from and many more available through the zap app a big thank. You goes out to amaze fit for sending out this watch for review without them. I wouldn’t have been aware of this amazing watch and previously i’ve always used my gear s3 by samsung, but ever since receiving the gdr2 i haven’t touched it so i’m really happy to use the gdr2.
