Everyone welcome to today’s video welcome back to my channel. If you’re new here welcome, don’t forget to click the like and subscribe button, so you never miss a monday or thursday with manders in today’s video. I am talking about the fitbit sense. Now i did a first impressions, half kind of review, unboxing video here on my channel when it first came out and i got the pre order and i opened it all up and i was jazzed about it. However, this is actually going to be. I think my first time reviewing a fitbit style of something that i actually kind of feel disappointed with i’m just gon. Na be honest, i had very very high expectations for this fitbit, since i made the upgrade from my versa 2 to this one. Instead of going from the versa 2 to the first of three – and i was just like super pumped about all the changes and in all honesty, i don’t think that it lived up to the hype. Maybe just my expectations i don’t know, but either way we’re gon na jump on into it. We’Re gon na talk about some of the things that they’ve changed and we’re just gon na talk about why i don’t think um. I made the right decision. So the first thing that i want to mention is just me being super picky and it’s. Honestly, probably my own fault, i have done everything under the sun with these fitbits, like with kettlebells dumbbells crossfit olympic weightlifting swimming running, all the things and i’ve never broken the screen on a fitbit.
Until now and again this is totally probably just me being picky, but i’m gon na show you i don’t actually know what exactly did it, but somehow i cracked the screen, which is super disappointing, because of course i didn’t get the freaking protection on it. So i’m, like anyways that’s, my first qualm let’s just talk about the actual improvements like what they did for this fitbit in comparison to the other ones. That, in my opinion, is definitely an upgrade or an improvement. First, being the battery life battery life on this guy lasts almost six days, which is incredible. That was one of my biggest issues when i was testing out the apple watch, and i mentioned that in my previous fitbit sense – unboxing video – i just i can’t deal with the freaking 18 to 24 hour battery life. I don’t want to have to charge something every single day and with this one they definitely made the battery life better, which it already was fantastic. To begin with, for this one, if you don’t have your notifications, like text turned on or other things that you can have, the notifications on, you will get pretty much six full days out of it. The only time you wouldn’t is, if you have the setting of the always on display, which is now a new feature that they offer and in that case you’re gon na get a significantly less battery life. Okay. So the fitbit sense that i got is the rose gold, one or white goat goals, whatever it is, and it is 330 so with that big of a price tag for an item like this, i think maybe that’s also why you know like coupled in with the Aesthetics, i thought it was just gon na be like mind blowing.
You know so, along with the improved battery life they’re, now offering more in depth sleep uh analysis, which i’ll pop some up here on the screen, so you can see kind of the difference. However, i will say that in order to get the most out of these new features or more detailed features which we’re going to talk about here in a second, you really do have to be subscribed to fitbit premium. So – and i know this is kind of controversial, because the reason why a lot of people didn’t necessarily love the whoop is because they didn’t want to pay the monthly fee right. So now fitbit, instead of just being a fitbit it’s, now either a 9.99 monthly subscription to fitbit premium or you can pay for the year, which is 79.99. So, in addition to the six day battery life, they did add built in gps, which is obviously something that a lot of people specifically runners uh, were wanting in this watch and they now added a feature which you have to either download a watch face or a Third party app to load onto the fitbit for your oxygen saturation levels so, along with those added things and those added metrics like i was saying, with the more detailed analysis, you also have the heart rate: variability your breathing rate and your skin temperature. So in this little section of the app called your health metrics, this is where they’ve added those additional metrics that they didn’t have before so, like i said, if you’re somebody who truly cares about seeing those trends, it is kind of similar to the whoop they have Like you know, your new stress management score, which is kind of similar to the whoop strain, and i know like a lot of companies – are doing that nowadays.
This is not anything that like fitbit, created or root created, but it is just like another detailed piece of information that you can use to kind of pay attention to your recovery, your skin temperature, your heart rate variability. If you’re somebody who likes to track those types of trends, of course, like i was saying, with the aesthetics the updated display, it is pretty it’s, definitely crisper it’s brighter. It looks a little bit more like the apple watch. If you ask me just kind of like the way that those uh apps appear on your screen so i’m going to pull this up for you, so you can see here – and we are going to talk about this in just a second which okay, great, really, love – That, for me this, oh then it swiped we’ll we’ll get into that. Here is what the apps look like when you are swiping through your fitbit also find my phone that was not on there before it’s pretty cool there. We go okay, so this is how it looks and that’s the main screen. Obviously, like i said graphics, much nicer, much crisper cleaner and it is pretty. I will give it that, since i already have the watch off – and i have my charger actually right here – i’m going to show you the other improvement that they made is the magnetic charging dock, which you just kind of like snap. Your watch on just like that and that’s how it charges those are the things that i feel are definitely a solid improvement.
However, let’s talk about my let’s talk about my dissatisfaction with this first thing: we’re going to talk about the bugs. If you look at any updated, fitbit sense review, you will see that pretty much the top complaint for almost every single thing is that there is a bug issue both in the app and in the watch now in the app they are working on the improvements, so I’Ve done probably like five or six app updates since i’ve got it, which has only been i don’t know, maybe a month and a half which is a lot and on the actual watch, face the reason that i say: it’s buggy. I guess you can also kind of refer to this as screen responsiveness, it’s, just it’s, not as responsive as you would think, especially for the price tag. I will give apple watch that when you are touching your watch it’s very sensitive to touch the fitbit like, as you can kind of, i don’t know if you’ll see from this far away like you have to kind of like so with that being said, i was Disappointed by the screen, in that sense, with the touching of it and trying to swipe through, and sometimes it will just kind of, like crash, like in the middle of a workout, if i’m trying to swipe through something to find it like freezes and it’s. Almost like it can’t keep up, and then it just shuts out and i’m like all right cool the next.
What they consider to be an improvement, i think, to be a pain in the ass is their side button or honestly lack thereof, side button. They made this very interesting indent and if you didn’t watch my other video i’m going to show you real quick up here, what it looks like up close this is now the side button and in order to press this button, just right, you need to have it At the exact angle, it has to be enough pressure to where you’re actually pushing it like a button, but not too much pressure, and i just have to be honest. I don’t like it. It annoys me – and this is the first time that i have this issue of it – hitting the button when i’m working out so like when my wrist bends back. You know if i’m doing, like handstand push ups or snatches whatever my skin will push up against the little indent and it will buzz and buzz and buzz, and it is so annoying. So, in order to fix that um, i can turn it upside down, which again me being a little bit picky that’s just annoying, but i feel like for how much you actually have to like push it when you’re trying to push the button it pushes so much When you’re not trying to push the button, so i don’t know that could just be me, but just maybe because i have very flexible wrists.
That just annoys me. Next up people mentioned this when i was looking at other people’s qualms. I love that word. I don’t know why, but i was looking at what other people were not loving about the scents. They were saying that their straps popped off so frequently. Now i will say i have not had this issue, so they made changes to the way that the band hooks on to the back of the fitbit and you kind of push this little button in and then you pull it off. However, i’m, assuming that the actual band that comes with it may be because it’s, the silicone i don’t know, but people were saying that the bands pop off all the time – and i got this little skinny leather band off of amazon – and i personally have not had This issue, but that is something that a ton of people were complaining about, so, like i said with the fitbit premium, i do feel like you need to be subscribed to that. If you want to get the most out of the different features, that comes with the new sense, if you don’t – and you don’t honestly care that much about those in depth metrics, then i would honestly suggest to just get the versa two or three i haven’t purchased. The versa three to compare it’s something that’s on my list of things to do, but as of right now, looking back, i was not that unhappy with my versa 2, to where i felt like, i actually needed the sense, and now that i’ve had it i’m kind Of just like, i didn’t really need it, you know, so this is truly the first time i’ve been kind of let down by a fitbit product and i’m interested to know, because i know a lot of you are whoop users, but i’m really curious as to whether Or not there’s, something else that you think is not.
I don’t want to say better because they all have their pros and cons, but something that you think is more practical than the fitbit, because obviously let’s face it 330 for a smart watch or a fitness watch is a lot of money and you know it’s. Just i think there might be a better option out there. I just have been partial to fitbit for so long, because i’ve had a lot of success with fitbit but i’m, not against trying something else like a different garment. I tried a garment before and i didn’t love the one that i had it just felt so basic and it was so big. So you know like i said there are some things that are positive about the newer fitbits in terms of aesthetics and lightweightness, and the fact that the band is not itchy. I just cannot get down with that whoop band. I wish they would make a different. Like i’d, even be okay with silicone, but something about, i think, it’s actually in here something about this fuzzy. Oh geez see look at that crap on the back of this it’s, so itchy. I cannot stand it so if there’s anything else that you know you think i should try review. I would be more than happy to but i’m just i don’t know i don’t know what else is out there. So that’s my updated thoughts on the fitbit sense. Let me know i’m interested to hear your guys’s thoughts.
